Crescent Lake Fly Out

otterCrescent Lake is one of the most idyllic settings of all the incredible destinations we fly to.   Nestled into the Alaska Range just below the towering Mount Redoubt volcano, Crescent Lake and the Crescent River gleams like a turquoise green jewel in the midst of dense wilderness and snow capped mountains.  Its headwaters depart the lake with a slow moving flow and quickly transitions to faster water and eventually rapids.   You will access the river starting at the outlet of Crescent Lake and travel down approx 2 miles before fishing just above the first set of rapids.   We start fishing Crescent lake in late June and early July when the sockeye salmon begin to arrive in good numbers.  This run stays good until the end of July and early August when we start to see the first runs of silver salmon.  crescentsilverSilver fishing on the Crescent River is best in mid to late August and stays good into the first half of September.  It is also a possibility to fish Crescent Lake itself for dolly varden and lake trout.  Crescent Lake is located in Lake Clark National Park and is a renown sanctuary for brown bears.  Bears can be often be seen fishing along the river and exploring the lake shore.
